Today’s expression: “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Meaning: describes the minor or routine action that causes an unpredictably large and sudden reaction, because of the cumulative effect of small actions.
Origin: the proverb “it is the last straw that breaks the camel’s back.”
In continuation of our celebration of Intl. Wall Ball Month, let’s take a look at some more information you need to know before you play your first game of Wall Ball.
Setting up:
You may play as a team or an individual.
The Team version of Wall Ball involves two (or more) teams that occupy the same “court” (or “play area”).
The Individual version of Wall Ball is also called the “Everyone-for-Themselves” version. This is by far my personal favorite form of Wall Ball. The last person left on the court is the winner.
Regardless of the version you choose to play, you may have as many players on the court as the play area permits.
Each player starts with 1 or more “lives.”
Most importantly, decide on the number of lives everyone will have and which rules everyone will follow. This can be done through votes on each rule one at a time or through one person or team deciding the rules for that game and alternating the rule-maker(s) with each subsequent game.
With enough people, tournaments or bracket play may be an exciting option.
Next week, we’ll begin to discuss the rules of Wall Ball. Don’t miss it!
