Read more, worry less.

Today’s quote:

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” – Winnie the Pooh

The only worries related to reading are the “what”s and “how”s. What to read and how to read it.

First for the “what.” There are too many good reads out there. The trouble can be in finding them.

Speaking of Goodreads, one of the ways I determine whether to finish reading a book is on the five-star rating system. I rarely give a one-star rating. If I’m not enjoying a book to such a degree, I’ll set it aside before I get to its end.

That’s one tip to finding a good read. Skip the ones that aren’t. I’m not saying don’t give it a try.

Give any and every book a try. That means getting through the first 50 pages, getting into the story as best you can, and getting used to the author’s voice. If you’ve done all that, that’s all you can do.

When taking suggestions, beware of spoilers. Take suggestions from family and friends. Take suggestions from the internet. Read, read, read, and then you can give suggestions of your own. It’s an honor to give and receive and share book recs.

Next is the “how.” Physical book or e-reader?

I’ll elaborate more in the future. For now, I’ll leave it at this: Kindle for travels and darkness, paper and cover for everything else.

Before you go, enjoy a couple more quotes.

“Rivers know this: There is no hurry. We shall get there some day.” – Winnie the Pooh

“Some people care too much. I think it’s called love.” – Winnie the Pooh

Brain teaser:

What is the only US state name that contains none of the letters in the word “mackerel”?
