Amuse-bouche: Every “c” in “Pacific Ocean” is pronounced differently.
Today’s Wonderful Word: “origami.”
Definition: the Japanese art or process of folding squares of paper into representational shapes.
Etymology: Japanese, from “ori” (fold) + “kami” (paper).

The Crane

The Shirt
Life begins as a flat page. As we grow older, our pages wrinkle and roll and fold and brighten and burn and fade. Origami is a descriptive and creative art form. It’s representative of how various aspects of life turn in on themselves and flip themselves over to reveal new sides. Origami challenges one to take ordinary occurrences and give them new perspectives.
After watching Death Note, I thought “gami” / “kami” in Japanese meant “God.” In the anime, the main character’s name is broken down from the Japanese words for “night,” “God,” and “moon.”

Maybe “kami” is the same pronunciation for “paper” and “god,” which makes sense, I guess.
Can’t forget the most memorable and impactful piece of origami: The fortune teller. If you’ve never made one of these, you’re missing out big time.
