I worked as a student technician during the summer of 2014. My colleagues and I were tasked with visiting all schools in our school district to clean out computers, take inventory, update hardware and software, test equipment, etc. We traveled via school van. Inside said van was a neglected Kindle device. I kept my discovery a secret and left the e-reader in the van for a few days. When it was still there the next week, I called dibs. When I brought it home and charged it up, I was surprised to see it still worked well after its long dormant state baking in the summer heat. I signed into my Amazon account and loaded it up with books. It’s been my trusty travel companion ever since.

Some may call it dumb luck. I would agree. We make our own luck after all.
