Typewriter

Today’s quote: “Knowledge speaks but wisdom listens.”

This is my typewriter.

It’s an Olympus Traveller de Luxe S probably from the 70s. I’ve had it for a couple years now. It shipped to me from the UK, tightly wrapped and sufficiently padded in a sturdy box packed by an Etsy seller.

Learning the ins and outs of this travel-sized writing machine has been quite fun. The only problem it has is with the “b” key. It’ll sometimes catch the “y” key on its way up to strike the page, causing the two arms to get stuck. It’s easy to reset though.

If you’d like to share your typewritten work, you can visit One Typed Page (https://onetypedpage.com). Send in a picture of the page you typed on your typewriter, and your page will be displayed among the day’s submitted works.

If you type to write, then you yourself are a type writer.

Another online gem is this typewriter simulator. You can become familiar with the ins and outs of manual typewriting in a virtual and far less satisfying manner.

Happy early b-day to you. You know who you are.

Brain teaser:

Place a three-letter word on the dashes to complete a word on the left and to begin another word with those letters on the right.

Example: e a r _ _ _ m e = e a r T H Y / T H Y m e

  1. f e a t _ _ _ o i c = ?
  2. c o u r _ _ _ n d a = ?
  3. d i s p _ _ _ o v e r = ?
  4. k e e _ _ _ s i s t = ?
  5. r u n _ _ _ i c e = ?

A+
