Today’s expression: “icing on the cake.”
This is my favorite urban art structure.

Of the many pictures I took of the tower, this one turned out best. The colors in the sky are magnificent. And the icing on the cake was the bird captured mid-flight inside the half-circle opening on the right side.

I’m impressed with the simple geometry involved in such a complex piece of art. Metal cylinders are fused together to form a rectangular prism as the base shape. Two-dimensional outlines would feature rectangles, triangles, half-circles, and squares depending on the perspective. The simplicity is intriguing.

Most of my pictures of the structure were crooked or blurry because I’d try to take them while driving. These last two photos were taken while waiting at a red light. The angle isn’t as strong, but at least the subject is clear and straight.

It looks like something has burst through the pillar. It took a semi-cylindrical chunk out of the side while causing a pyramid protrusion from the opposite side. I wonder what it was that flew through the tower. Maybe a bird.
